Heros "Rotkiel" (WILD)
Red Faced/Shoulder Sevrum
. . . a pictorial

For a 40 second movie of the Red Sevrums click here!

All photographs here were taken by Mike Jacobs in 2005 of fish that were the first generation of a pair of wild Heros sp. "Rotkiel" from Peru. The original Pair was imported my myself and a member, Charlie Goss, of my local aquarium society, Tampa Bay Aquarium Society . . . www.tbas1.com , picked up the breeders and these were the first fry he gave back to me. The coloration in the face and sholder began when the fish were approximately 3-4 inches long. The first indication of color was the anal fin that turned yellow and then red at about the same time. They are wonderful fish and have occupied a 75 gallon tank with 10-15 wild angels and some Cory. sterbae's and there has been no trouble at all. Enjoy! (Enlarge all pic by clicking on them.)
Photo's taken with a Nikon D-70 /105mm Micro Nikkor lens.
